CHALLENGED
One of the main conventions that we challenged occurred when we chose our song. The song we chose had a long pause/ silence, which is quite unusual as this could result in the viewer losing interest and clicking off of the video. This goes against convention as out of all other songs we researched this was the only one with a period of silence. In this silence we decided to feature our narrative, we chose to use the scene with a magician and would make the card throwing shot slow-motion, overemphasising the length of the silence and allowing build up for the next shot.

Another convention that we challenged was the budget that went into the production of the video. Music videos are often filmed with expensive, high quality cameras, with all sorts of accessories and variations of trip pods, allowing for the best possible shots making their music video the highest possible quality. As we didn't have access to this sort of money we had to make do with what we had either at school or home. After testing out the schools Cannon DSLR we came to the conclusion that our iPhones were easier to use and produced a better quality image. This is a step further than the Cannon when challenging conventions, as it is extremely unlikely that a big budget company would film a music video using a phone, however the quality we produced would argue you don't need a large budget to produce good quality shots.
